The day has finally come! Today I will be operated on, to remove the metal bar that has been in my chest (scroll right). I'm a little nervous, I won't lie A little over 10 years ago I had this metal bar put in my chest to fix my deformity known as “Pectus Excavatum” - a structural deformity where the sternum and rib cage are shaped abnormally, resulting in the chest caving-in. This usually occurs either at birth, when the body is forming, or during / after puberty, when an adolescent has their growth spurt. The whole process was excruciatingly painful for months - like... you have no idea - but I cannot thank the NHS doctors and nurses at Alderhey Children's Hospital enough. The initial operation simply changed my life and if it wasn't for them, I just would not be where I am today - and that's just aesthetically speaking, let alone physically and mentally too! Today the surgeons are removing the bar, as there is no longer a need for it. I'm filming as much of the process as possible and Joel, the head surgeon, is going to be filming the operation too! I want to document it, not only to show you guys but also to help ANYONE who suffers from this deformity, that there is treatment and it can change their lives! I'll be on the IG stories (hopefully). I've looked better eh but the 4th day home now and I'm bruising up nicely! haha! I will get back to #AffordableFashion outfit posts as soon as I can but just in recovery mode atm. I've a few goals set this year. One in particular is my fitness (hence starting @davidjamesseedfitness). Competing in my first triathlon last year was an eye opener to how I need to improve my cardiovascular fitness and also make sure my body mobility is really increased. So I plan to exercise EVERY day. Yep, 7 days a week. My rest days will be ‘active rest days'. A brisk walk, small jog, swim, yoga session - just something! I'm in good shape but I'd like to be in fantastic shape. Have you set new fitness goals this year? Let me know. I'd love to hear and even help where I can! I teamed up with #lucozadesport / @FitWaterUK this week to try out their #Fitwater. It's purified spring water with 4 key electrolytes to replenish what you loose when you sweat. Now, I really pushed today's session, super sweated it out.. and I genuinely (and surprisingly tbh) felt fully replenished! It was quite amazing.
